SplitTake Privacy Policy

This policy covers SplitTake, a speedrun timer for macOS, developed by Sotsworks LLC (“Sotsworks”). The Sotsworks website has its own privacy policy.

SplitTake does not collect any data. Sotsworks doesn’t operate any servers for the app. There are no accounts, analytics, advertising, or tracking.

Stored locally

SplitTake stores splits, layouts, settings, the recent files list, recovery snapshots, and records of errors and crashes only on the device it runs on. Sotsworks can’t see or retrieve them.

Speedrun.com

When looking up a game, category, world record, or cover art, SplitTake sends only what the lookup needs directly to Speedrun.com, with no account, cookies, or identifiers. Speedrun.com’s privacy policy covers what it receives.

Shared only by choice

• Autosplitters: When connected to an external autosplitter, SplitTake exchanges timer commands and timer information only with the server address it was given.
• Problem reports: Report a Problem (in the Help menu) prepares an email to Sotsworks in the default email app, or saves the report as a file. Nothing is sent unless that email is sent. With diagnostics included, the report contains SplitTake and macOS versions and coded error records, but no splits, file names, or personal information.
• Crash reports from Apple: If sharing with app developers is enabled under Analytics & Improvements in System Settings, Apple may provide Sotsworks with anonymous crash reports.
